Top 8 Reasons to Work with a Realtor
Posted on Oct 5, 2016
Buying a home is a very exciting time in a person’s life; however, it can also be a very daunting and stressful time in a person’s life, as well. When buying a home, there are a lot of items to consider and keep track of. From financial decisions and seeking out issues with properties to deciding on the neighborhood and number of bedrooms in a home, there is a lot to think about. While researching and searching for homes, you may find this is a larger emotional, physical and financial undertaking than you originally anticipated. And sure, maybe you can shop for a home all on your own, but a realtor estate agent can help you find the perfect pretty at a faster rate, and make the process a lot simpler for you. Realtors are obligated to put YOUR interests before their own, and it’s their job to know if there are houses out there that match your wants and needs.
Below, I’ve listed 8 benefits and reasons to work with a realtor.
- Realtors can save you time – Since it’s their job to find you a home, it’s a time well spent for them to do the search. Otherwise, you will have to find the time between your job, errands, social activities and other obligations to do all the research.
- They understand all necessary paperwork – When buying a home, there is a lot of paperwork involved: forms, reports, disclosures, etc. A realtor has an expertise in these documents and understands them completely. They can explain the details (and jargon) to you for you to better understand.
- Realtors know the neighborhood – Sure, the home is perfect, but is this neighborhood safe? Without even doing an Internet search, realtors are familiar with the towns and cities they do business in and will be able to tell you what restaurants, bars, schools, entertainment facilities, shopping centers, airports, municipal buildings, and parks are in the areas, as well as area statistics including crime rates and population. They can also give you an objective opinion on an area as well that you may not get from friends or family.
- They are skilled negotiators – Realtors know how to negotiate; they been doing it for years! Since they understand the market, realtors can help homebuyers close the deal at the price and terms they want and need.
- Realtors can help you stay focused – Like stated before, buying a home can get emotional. With so many years of experience and clients under their belt, realtors know how to be concerned and care for you needs while helping you and staying as objective as possible.
- Access to more properties – Not all available homes are listed on the web for you to view; however, real estate agents know about homes who have sellers that didn’t want their sale advertised in that public of a manner. Agents have access to plenty of listings that you could be missing out on.
- They know the codes – Realtors are up-to-date on codes and ordinances in towns that may help make or break your decision to buy a certain home.
- They keep things organized – Although it’s smart for you to keep a record of all your research and transactions, a realtor usually, and in many states is required, to keep documents in all transactions for many years. So you can contact the agent (even after the purchase) if you have any questions.
