Situated in warm Southwest Florida, the city of Cape Coral is the ideal place to explore the outdoors, especially parks. The city offers breath-taking views being that it is surrounded by water on three sides. Not to mention, that the area is full of some impressive flora and fauna. When the humidity dies down, the best place to be in Cape Coral is outside, specifically in one of the city’s parks. Residents and visitors can enjoy a day in the sun exploring these beautiful public parks (39 to be exact!) and all they have to offer.

Below, I’ve picked a few of the city’s best parks for you to learn more about:

Rotary Park | 5505 Rose Garden Road, Cape Coral
Park Hours: Daylight hours
Facility hours: Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rotary Park is 97 acres and has a 4,200-square foot Environmental Center within. This land is full of salt marsh, upland, and rock. It opened in 2001. Park features include: a playground, exercise equipment, a butterfly house, dog park, Glover Bright Boardwalk & Observation Tower, nature trails, picnic areas with barbeque grills, birding ponds, a walking path, free mulch, and restrooms. The Environmental Center is home to gardening and nature-related classes, summer camp, exercise classes, the annual Burrowing Owl Festival, plant sales, small-critter displays, and more. The trails take people through mangrove wetlands and give visitors the perfect views of birds in the area.

Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve | 2500 SE 24th St., Cape Coral
Preserve Hours: 8 a.m. to dusk
Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve, also known as “Eco Park,” is 365 acres, which makes it the second largest green preserve in the city. It is a brackish water wetland. Park features include: A Veterans Memorial Area, walking trail, visitor center, kayak rentals, picnic areas, observation piers, and restrooms. Eagles, ibis, herons, raccoons, snakes, and a lot more wildlife have been spotted within the preserve. The trails offer a picturesque tour through mangrove forests.

Four Freedoms Park | 4818 Tarpon Ct., Cape Coral
This park is 3.2 acres and overlooks Bimini Basin. This park comes equipped with several picnic areas, a sunbathing-only beach, and a 3,900-square foot recreation center. The rec center is a multipurpose facility that offers different programs for people of all ages; it also houses preschool and VPK programs.
